Adult Canine class is designed for dogs, 1 year and older with little or no prior training experience. It consists of 6 sessions and will focus primarily on basic obedience skill training. We will help you to become familiar with training techniques and proper timing. We will work to help you establish control as well as attention and focus. With an older dog it can be more difficult to expand the attention span. This class is even more important for the trainer (owner) in some ways than it is for the dog. It can be difficult to change behaviors in an older dogs and the key is consistency at home in between classes sessions. We give you extremely helpful tips and techniques for working with adult dogs.
This class moves quickly through some attention and focus exercises and then onto the basics of sit, down, stay, come, off, take it, no jumping, heel, walking with a loose leash, as well as techniques for preventing unwanted behaviors. We will integrate voice and hand commands to give you more control. Dogs that attend must be well socialized. Dogs that are not receptive toward other dogs or become overly "barky or growly" will not be able to participate in Adult Canine class. Those issues can be addressed in the Growly Class, for dogs with issues involving dog aggression. To learn more about this class click above on Group Classes and Growly Class.
A "one-time private" one-hour session is available and is, generally, best done before the class begins to help you gain additional control. Many dog owners really enjoy the one-on-one, hands-on training session to get a better handle on dogs that are extremely energetic or become excessively stimulated in public or with other dogs. A private session done in advance of group classes will help you be able to handle your dog more effectively in the classroom situation. Please contact Deborah Rosen at (253) 752-6878 if you are interested in scheduling this type of session in conjunction with the upcoming group class. A discount is given on the private session for those also signing up for a group class.
$150 per group of 6, 1-hour sessions (Discounts given to shelter dogs, seniors and disabled adults)
