Group Classes

Good Citizen Dog Training employs positive, reward-based methods to help your dog understand the behaviors that you desire. Using this method will create an upbeat and positive relationship between you and your pet. Meeting once a week, you and your dog will learn exercises to help you both to learn and enjoy training. You will see changes in your pet's behavior from one week to the next.

There are 4 components to each class – designed somewhat differently based on the age and needs of the dogs.

 

Puppy Kindergarten Puppy Kindergarten 
This is a 6 - week class designed to cover the basics of puppy training and care. Puppies are between 8 weeks and 6 months. The initial focus of these classes is to provide intensive socializing opportunities and exercises for the puppies to encourage a sense of confidence and reduce fear. We also build a great number of basic skills in this class.
Puppy II Class Puppy II Class
This class is designed for older puppies between 4 and 18 months. This is a 6-week class with a greater focus on basic obedience, but still has plenty of socializing activities and supervised playtime with the other puppies and their owners. This is the best time to build better impulse control and manage fear and aggression before it becomes a problem.
Advanced Puppy Advanced Puppy Class
This class is designed for older puppies between 6 and 24 months with good prior training experience and skill level. This challenging 6-week class focuses on basic obedience. There will be still be plenty of on and off-leash socializing and supervised playtime with the other puppies and their owners, but we will spend more time working in this class building a much more reliable basic skills with distractions.


Advanced Obedience Class

Advanced Obedience Class 
(AKC Canine Good Citizen Certifcation Class)  
Advanced Obedience Class is designed for dogs that have been through prior training with Good Citizen Dog Training or another "reputable" group and already has a dependable level of skill. Dogs and owners who have not been through prior training with Good Citizen Dog Training will be evaluated prior to enrollment for Advanced Obedience.
Growly Class Growly Class
GROWLY CLASS is specifically for dogs that have difficulty and/or elicit inappropriate behavior toward other dogs. Whether they come on with too much enthusiasm or actually do something "unseemly" this is a great class for any dog owner. It is also our most popular class, which means there are a great many dog owners who have this sort of difficulty.  Click on the link and read on.
Puppy II Class Slick Tricks - for dogs of all sizes and ages
Every dog should have a few tricks up his or her sleeve! Have a great time with your dog while teaching a variety of tricks chosen with your dog's particular personality and physique in mind. We cover a wide variety of fun tricks including (but, not limited to): spin, paw, take a bow, sit pretty, wave, hi five, rollover, jumps, weaving between your legs, and we take requests for additional tricks best suited to your dog! We use positive reinforcement utilizing luring and free shaping techniques. This course is a great precursor to agility, therapy dog certification and a potential career as a dog star! Teaching tricks is a great way to enhance your relationship with your dog, to improve overall canine manners and your skills as a trainer while having a blast!

May 15th, Tuesday!  New Classes Starting soon!

The next Growly Class will begin on Tuesday, May 21st. Please submit a contact form to enroll. This class is filling up quickly - please contact us now if you are interested. This is a great class for anyone with a new dog or a dog that gets out of control on leash when encountering new dogs or people.  Call now and learn to be a great dog handler!

All new puppy classes will begin on Saturday, June 1st.  Puppy Kindergarten class will begin  at 10:00am,  Puppy II will begin at 11:30. And, this time out we'll be doing Advanced Puppy Class at 1:00 PM.  This is the class that does the testing for the Canine Good Citizen certification.  Do yourself and your puppies a huge favor - Enroll Now!!!

Don't wait to start your new puppy with training!  Our New Puppy Consultation is very popular for new puppy owners.  We are puppy specialists and will help you make your home a safe and successful place to train and raise your new puppy. This 90-minute consultation is helpful for new puppy owners who have little or no puppy experience, for people with older puppies that are "out of control" or to help you to resolve basic puppy behavior problems and  to "jump start" the basic obedience and attention and focus work with your puppy.  People who do the New Puppy Consultation are extremely happy (actually they are amazed at what we accomplish in 90 minutes) to have invested the time and money, which gives them a solid basis in puppy rearing, maintenance and training.

Want a trained, happy and tired dog.  Day Training is open for all comers.  We spend 30 minutes training your puppy or adult dog.  Then they play with the other dogs with continuous supervision to ensure their social skills are developing properly.
